Paz Movie in November

Coming in November

Verdi Production of East Greenwich RI and Open Road Films has set a November 4th  limited release for "Bleed for This," the biopic  story of boxer Vinny Pazienza, which stars  Miles Teller.

After its platform bow, the pic from writer-director Ben Younger will expand to wide release on November 23. That puts it in that fall corridor where distributors put movies they feel will be knockouts during awards season.

"Bleed for This" tells the true story Pazienza (Teller), "The Pazmanian Devil" who shot to stardom after winning two world title fights. After a near-fatal car accident left him with a severed spine, doctors told him he might never walk again. But with the help of trainer Kevin Rooney (Aaron Eckhart), Pazienza not only walked again but returned to the ring to reclaim his title belt only a year after the accident. Katey Sagal, Ted Levine, Ciaran Hinds, Jordan Gelber and Amanda Clayton co-star.

The Congressman

Jane Pickens Theater

Starting Friday at Jane Pickens Theater in Newport. THE CONGRESSMAN.  A drama/comedy, starring Treat Williams, Elizabeth Marvel, Ryan Merriman and George Hamilton, and here’s the hook besides its quality: it’s a pertinent and timely comedy/drama about Congress that has been written and co-directed by a former member of Congress, 5 term N.Y. Congressman Robert Mrazek.

THE CONGRESSMAN is a film that understands the politics of 2016 all too well. Treat Williams (Hair, Prince of the City) is Maine Congressman Charlie Winship, who’s having a bad day. After being caught on video failing to stand and recite the pledge of allegiance, he knocks out another House member, confronts his angry ex-wife, and faces denunciation by the media for attacking one of the most cherished patriotic symbols in America.
