The Mob and Me: Arlene Violet at the Cathedral
Friday, October 08, 2010
What does Providence's Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul have to do with the Mob? Plenty, says Arlene Violet.
The former Attorney General's just-released book with former US Marshal John Partington, The Mob and Me: Wiseguys and the Witness Protection Program, details the fascinating story of the development of the program that allowed mid-level criminals to survive and be used in prosecutions of high-level crime bosses. The first-person narrative from Partington's perspective covers ground from Atwells Avenue to a convent in Cumberland, and Violet took time between book signings to tour the famous (and infamous) locations and share some stories.
Here, Violet explains the role this church, and the Church, played in the story. To hear her stories from Federal Hill, go here.GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLAST
