An Irish Dance Performance

Going Green
March 15th University of Rhode Island goes green! As part of their environmental conservation effort URI is holding its annual “Go Green Campaign.” This year the awareness event is focusing around the culture of Ireland, featuring Irish stew, desserts, giveaways, cultural booths and demonstrations. 10 am-2 pm. Memorial Union Atriums 1 and 2 at the URI Kingston Campus.

St. Patrick's Day Parade
March 17th Don your green and Irish spirit for Newport’s 56th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, featuring pipe bands, fife & drum corps, and fire and police brigades. Be prepared for fantastic floats, majestic marching bands, comical clowns, and lots of festive energy! Begins at Newport City Hall at 11am. For more information click here.
St. Patrick's Day Bash
March 17th This St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday; take advantage of the opportunity which won’t happen again for another six years! Head down to Ladder 133 for a day full of great acts, prizes, and giveaways. Speak Easy performs at 3 pm followed by The Rockwells with DJs keeping the music coming all day and night! The Gnomes at Roots
March 17th The Gnomes brings the best of Irish music to Roots Cultural Center this weekend. The “Wearin’ of the Green” is preferred dress for guests as they party and dance with some of Rhode Island's best known musicians: Phil Edmonds (Irish whistle and button accordion); Cathy Clasper-Torch (fiddle, keyboard, er-hu, vocals); Michael Fischman (guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, banjo); Peter Breen (bass, vocals); and Ron Schmitt (percussion) -- who combine their varied and extensive musical backgrounds into arrangements that have been described as "exotic, fresh, unique."
