Renowned composer Philip Glass will be visiting and performing in Providence this Wednesday and Thursday.  FirstWorks, with its mission to "connect art with audiences," brings Glass to Rhode Island as part of its 2015 Artistic Icons Series.

On Wednesday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m., the Providence community is invited to the Vet to attend "An Evening of Chamber Music," where Glass will perform original compositions with the help of famous solo violinist, Tim Fain.  Glass will also be paying visits to local high schools and to the Rhode Island School of Design to speak and perform.

Glass is known for his revolutionary work in the field of composition. He has been described as a man who has changed "the face of music for our time and all time."

FirstWorks has been enhancing the cultural experiences of RIers since 2004, and it is responsible for introducing artists such as Yo-Yo Ma and the Joffrey Ballet to the Providence scene.  The company's Executive Artistic Director, Kathleen Petcher, stated “FirstWorks is thrilled to bring an experience to Providence audiences that would typically require a trip to a major metropolitan center like New York City.  Glass is a game-changer — and we’re introducing his intellect and artistry to our community on an intimate level.”

Tickets for Wednesday's performance begin at $38, and additional information about Glass' itinerary can be found at www.first-works.org.
