Choreography Project Announces 2025 Cohort - August Performance in Providence
The artists will present their original work at the organization’s annual performance series on August 24, 2025 at the newly-renovated Hope High School Auditorium in Providence under the guidance of nationally-acclaimed choreographic mentors.

2025 Cohort
The Project on Monday announced the following cohort members:
Simon Montalvo (they/them), a Boston-based non-binary movement artist, blends dance theatre and improvisation with deep community engagement. Their work has been presented by the Boston Center for the Arts and Danza Orgánica.
Hannah Franz (she/her), a versatile choreographer and performer, holds a BFA in Dance from Adelphi University and has worked with artists across the Boston and NYC scenes. She currently dances with Partnering Lab, as well as other freelance projects in and around Boston.
Ava Grebe (she/her), originally from Maryland, is a recent graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she earned her BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance with an emphasis in Choreography. This is her first professional choreographic residency.
Alyah Baker (she/her), assistant professor of dance at UNC Charlotte, works at the intersection of dance and embodied activism. She is the founder of AB Contemporary Dance and her choreographic research has been featured in media, both locally and nationwide.
Deanna Gerde (she/her), currently performing with Newport Contemporary Ballet, returns to Choreography Project after a successful 2023 debut. Her recent choreography has also been featured at the Newport Dance Festival and Puddingstone Festival.
Nina Yoshida-Webster (she/her) joins CP for the first time as a choreographer. Currently a dancer with Ballet RI, she has also performed with Gelsey Kirkland Ballet, New Jersey Ballet, American Repertory Ballet, and Asian American Ballet Project.

Choreography Project continues its mission to amplify artists of marginalized genders and foster the creation of new dance works.
The 2025 performance promises to showcase bold movement, compelling ideas, and diverse perspectives from across the dance landscape.
