Alvarez High School Guidance Counselor Tedeschi to Attend Educators Event at White House
Friday, April 29, 2016
Dr. Jorge Alvarez High School guidance counselor David Tedeschi will attend the great educators event at the White House on May 3rd. The event honors great educators from all across the country.
“I am humbled by the honor to attend this White House event to share my passion for helping our students set high expectations, apply for and thrive in the college of their choice. Our students have so much potential, and I’m pleased every year to help them navigate the application and financial assistance process so they can meet their dreams of attending college," said Tedeschi.
Tedeschi was nominated for the honor by the College Advising Corps (CAC) at Brown University. The CAC works with local educators and guidance counselors to increase the number of low income, first generation college, and underrepresented students who enter and complete higher education.

He doesn’t accept excuses from students and challenges them to be better. I know this because I am a beneficiary of his style of counseling," said Rich Norris, Feinstein HS Class of 2005 and Guidance Counselor at Alvarez High School.
Added Alvarez senior Andreysi Ortiz, “When college applications started, he was always the first one to come and help and always the last to leave. He encouraged us to look beyond 2 year colleges and apply to 4 year colleges and universities”
