Dropkick Murphys Play Mohegan Sun Friday Night
Veterans Day weekend provides a good time to break from the post-election madness and honor America’s finest. The music world will celebrate starting tonight with a big show at Mohegan Sun. And there’s a lot more great music around the Providence area this weekend, including classic rock, modern rock and beyond. For details, check out slide show “5 Live Music Musts.”

Vets Rock at Mohegan Sun
Vets Rock is a weekend long event at Mohegan Sun that celebrates America’s Veterans. Tonights show in the Arena features Dropkick Murphys, Godsmack & Madison Rising with Master of Ceremonies, Tony Orlando. Tickets are still available to this show which benefits “Till Duty is Done,” an important veterans charity. Music starts at 7PM. Details here.

Good Charlotte at Lupo's
Tonight, Good Charlotte’s “The Story So Far” tour arrives at Lupo’s. It’s been 20 years since the alt-rock band from Maryland debuted. After a brief hiatus, the band reunited in 2015 and recently released a new album Youth Authority. Music begins early, with openers Four Years Strong and Big Jesus. Tickets available here starting at $33.

AWB and TOP at Twin River
Twin River hosts a double feature Saturday night as two big names from the 1970s take over the Event Center. The Average White Band had popular hits like “Pick up the Pieces” and “Cut the Cake.” And the Tower of Power horns are one of the most respected bands around. Colin Hay at Odeum
“Who can it Be Now?” Well, Colin Hay, that’s who. Hay is of course best known as leader of Men at Work, the 80’s favorites from a land “Down Under.” He’ll be singing songs and telling stories at the Greenwich Odeum Sunday night at 8PM. Thee Oh Sees at Aurora
Thee Oh Sees are an underground garage rock band that came together in the late 90’s in San Francisco. Their sound, which incorporates elements of punk, psychedelic rock and more, is hard to describe; let’s just say they freakin’ rock! Check them out in Providence next Tuesday November 15th at Aurora. It’ll be a full bill with openers Gymshorts, Holy Wave and Strait Arrows. Tickets available here for $14. Music starts around 9PM.
