Aine Minogue Plays her Winter Solstice Show Saturday at Common Fence Music in Portsmouth
With a lot of big name tours taking a break around the holiday season, it’s a good time to visit some of the local music venues around the state. This week, "5 Live Music Musts" does just that, checking some popular spots that regularly provide great music. Even better, this weekend is extra-special as many artists are playing holiday shows. Horse-Eyed Men Friday
Providence based Americana duo Horse-Eyed Men are headlining a holiday show at the Columbus Theatre tonight. The "Men," brothers Noah and Dylan Harley, play “original, disgruntled Americana and country music.” The bill also includes area favorites Dan Blakeslee, The Gravitini Brothers, RawKin RhythMix and Tom Weyman. The Linemen Saturday
The Linemen are a veteran group of roots rockers who have recently been climbing the Americana charts with their new album Close the Place Down. The band plans to do just that as they’ll play late into the wee hours Saturday night at Nick-a-Nees in Providence. Music begins after 9PM and admission is free as always.

John Fuzek Saturday
Also playing before a hometown crowd Saturday night is John Fuzek at Chester’s in Smithfield. Fuzek is a mainstay on the local music scene - he does it all, from writing original music, interpreting the greats, as well as producing and promoting events like the Providence Folk Festival. Expect to hear originals, covers, and a few obscure classics, and perhaps a holiday song or two. Music starts at 6:30. Details here.

Donna the Buffalo Sunday
Donna the Buffalo's socially conscious blend of cajun, zydeco, rock, folk, reggae, and country music began over twenty years ago and has evolved into a soulful electric Americana mix. The popular band, who’ve appeared at the Rhythm and Roots Festival, always gets audiences up and dancing – expect that and more tomorrow night at the Odeum on Main Street in East Greenwich.
