Happy New Year!

It is January 1st, 2016 and once again there is no shortage of activities in Rhode Island. Annie is at PPAC, both the Providence College Friars and URI Rams begin conference play and don't miss out on the Polar Bear Plunge plus a whole lot more.

Newport Polar Bear Plunge 

Enjoy your New Years Day by plunging into the water at Easton's Beach, or watch others do it. 

The Polar Bear Plunge is a New Years Day tradition and it takes place at noon time. 

All proceeds from the event go to the charity, A Wish Come True.

Sparkle! An Outdoor Family Event

This is the final day for the Sparkle event. 

Festive holiday fun for the entire family! Stroll through Blithewold’s illuminated gardens and Greenhouse, breathe in that crisp winter air, or join the carolers as they spread holiday cheer. Enjoy singing, hot-cocoa, and s’mores around a roaring bonfire.

Tickets are $14 Adults, $3 for Children 3 or older, $28 Family Pass (2 adult + 2 children)

St. John's vs. #12 PC 

The Friars play thier Big East Conference home opener on Saturday agains the St. John's Red Storm and their new head coach Chris Mullin. 

Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

St. Louis vs. URI 

The Rams were picked to finish second in the A-10 during the pre season and they kick off thier conference play season against St. Louis at the Ryan Center. 

Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.

Annie at PPAC

The Tony Award production is in Providence for this weekend. 

The play features music by Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, ANNIE includes such unforgettable songs as “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “Easy Street,” “I Don’t Need Anything But You,” plus the eternal anthem of optimism, “Tomorrow.”

Narragansett Beer 125th Anniversary Bash with Deer Tick

Narragansett's 125th Bash will be held at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel and will feature Rhode Island's own Deer Tick. 

Recover from New Years and then get out and sing and dance the night away as you celebrate Narragansett Beer.

Block Builders at Prov Children's Museum 

Kids build with blocks of all shapes and sizes, trying new things and having fun at the same time. 

Block building goes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is FREE with museum admission.

Newport Seal Tour

Go for a one or two hour tour through Newport Harbor and view 360 seals on Citing Rock off of Rose Island and the Newport Bridge.

A one-hour tour costs $22 for non members while a two hour tour costs $42 for non members.
