Beginning Friday, consumers can purchase FAT bastard wines, one of the top-selling French wines in the U.S., to help find a cure for breast cancer. October is National Breast Cancer awareness month and for the eighth consecutive year, FAT bastard will donate 25 cents for every bottle of its wine sold in restaurants and retail locations. Locally, the monies will be donated to the Integrative Care Program at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. Through the end of October, FAT bastard wines will be easy to spot on the shelves in local stores, wearing a special breast cancer awareness necker with an attached pink enamel pin for consumers to wear in show of their support.

Ground-Breaking Programs

The Program in Women’s Oncology at Women & Infants was one of the first in the nation to offer an extensive menu of integrative therapies to provide comfort, pain relief and stress relief for the women undergoing cancer treatment. These therapies include massage, acupuncture, Reiki, hypnotherapy, yoga, meditation, expressive art therapy, poetry writing, journaling and music therapy. For more information on the therapies and programs offered through the Integrative Care Program, call 274-1122, ext. 8756, or 846-0042. The Program operates at four Women & Infants’ sites in southeastern New England: Providence, South County, and Middletown, all in RI; and Fall River, MA.
