East Bay Center Event To Honor Dr. Michael Fine and Barrington Police Chief

The East Bay Center will host its inaugural bash, "Celebrate! An Evening on the East Bay" on Thursday, September 18 from 6-9pm at Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum in Bristol. 

The event will be a community celebration for EBC's service areas of East Providence, Barrington, Bristol, and Warren, RI.

Award ceremony

Headlining the evening will be the presentation of two awards. The Public Health Award will be given to Dr. Michael Fine, the Director of the RI Department of Health, primarily for his leadership in the state's current overdose crisis.

The Community Health Advocate Award will be presented to Barrington Police Chief John LaCross for his leadership in health and safety in the community.

WPRI-TV's Patrick Little will serve as emcee for the evening, and WPRI is a media sponsor. The Barrington High School Jazz Ensemble will provide entertainment.

There will be a silent auction of items from gift certificates to East Bay restaurants to a cruise on a 30' Sloop, photography packages, and more.

East Bay Center's mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by struggles with mental illness and substance abuse disorders.  The event will help to expand services to meet the needs of clients, from individuals, primary care providers, community leaders and others -- when in need of mental health and addiction services.
