Al Forno, in Fox Point

GoLocalProv in partnership with Find The Best identified the Providence neighborhoods with the highest concentration of restaurants per 10,000 people, as well as the most common types of restaurants in the city.

Downtown had the most, with 216 restaurants per 10,000 residents, followed by Federal Hill with 227.3 restaurants per 10,000 people.

Overall, Providence has 7.5 restaurants for every 10,000 residents. 

Find The Best also found that pizza places are more common in Providence than any other type of restaurant, closely followed by fast food and Mexican. Perhaps surprisingly, Italian was in 5th place.

Enoteca Umberto, Federal Hill

Number of restaurants per 10,000 residents on Federal Hill: 109

Although there are numerous fine dining Italian restaurants on Federal Hill, Enoteca Umberto sticks out from the crowd with its unique and intimate atmosphere due to owner Umberto who has a vast knowledge and passion for Sicilian food and wine. The chef, Umberto’s fianceé Lea, cooks up original Sicilian meals in the kitchen. While the menu is not large, the restaurant is known for its daily specials.
