Much Anticipated - Maven’s Opens on Thayer Street

On Tuesday, workers were training, the signs were installed, and the final touches were being made at Maven’s Delicatessen at its new location on Thayer Street in Providence.

“The day has come!! Mavens Jr. officially opens tomorrow  (Wednesday) on Thayer Street,” said the company.

“A slightly smaller menu… but not nearly as limited as you think. Your favorites are here, the essentials are covered, and yes, it still hits exactly the way you want it to. Doors open tomorrow. Thayer Street, we’re ready for you! Let's get BAGELS!” added Maven’s.

Nearly a Year in the Making

GoLocal last July broke the story that the company was opening a second location on Thayer. 

"Maven’s Delicatessen is expanding. Signs have been posted that Maven's will be going into the vacant retail location on the corner of Angell and Thayer Streets in Providence," GoLocal reported in July.

The location, the corner of Thayer and Angell Streets, was previously home to J Life Mart.

Maven's first location opened in 2024 in Pawtucket on East Avenue, and Maven's told GoLocal [last July] that the Thayer Street location “would be opening soon.”

The "opening soon" was pushed back to December of 2025, and now, in April of 2026, it is a go.

The company says, “Maven’s is a modern traditional Jewish deli on the Providence/Pawtucket line at the Blackstone Plaza. It pays homage to the delicatessens of the past while having fun doing so. Set in a convivial and energetic atmosphere, Maven's is the restaurant that moves forward Jewish cuisine while incorporating some new items that they hope will be a part of the culture and tradition of the future.”
