Celebrity Chef Lidia Bastianich Coming to Newport

Chef, television personality and restaurateur Lidia Bastianich headlines this year's Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival, one of the most anticipated food and wine events in the region.

With a broad array of celebrity chefs, exclusive wines from around the world and fabulous food from the region’s best restaurants, the 6th annual Festival will be the big culinary destination this fall, from September 23-25. Sponsored by FOOD & WINE, the Festival takes place in none other than Newport's historic mansions Rosecliff and Marble House.

The weekend’s festivities will begin on Friday, September 23, with the Wine & Rosecliff Gala, where guests will enjoy special vintages uncorked exclusively for the evening, with delicious food pairings.

Bastianich to host brunch, sign books

Bastianich will host a Jazz Brunch at the Hotel Viking on Sunday morning, September 25, and also appear for book signings at the Sunday Grand Tasting at Marble House. In addition there will be appearances and seminars led by industry experts such as Ray Isle of FOOD & WINE,  winemaker Justin Baldwin of Justin Winery,  noted wine connoisseur Alain Junguenet of Wines of France, Inc., and Roseanne Tully of Intermezzo, among others.

The Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival also features an all-inclusive Grand Tasting at Marble House with more than 100 wineries on Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25, from noon to 4 pm.  A single admission price includes samplings of wines from around the world, small plate tastings of exciting dishes from regional restaurants and caterers, cooking demonstrations by guest chefs, a souvenir glass, and free parking and shuttle transportation to/from Marble House.

All proceeds from the Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival benefit The Preservation Society of Newport County.
