Single Family Home Sales on the Upswing

The federal tax credit for first-time and existing home buyers has contributed to the upswing in single-family home sales in Rhode Island. Sales of single-family homes were up 8.5 percent from first quarter of 2009 and the median price rose 7.2 percent, from $180,000 last year to $193,000 this year. In April, the average selling price for a single-family home was $124,191 up from $115,204 in March. Single-family home sales rose significantly in Warwick, with the average selling price in April at $183,021, up from $160,696 in the previous month.
