NEW: Rhode Island Company Laying Off 154 People - and Closing Facility

A Rhode Island company has announced it is laying off over 150 workers.

According to the required Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter filed on Tuesday with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, Allied Group LLC - located in Cumberland - said that 154 would be affected, starting May 25.

The company also has a facility in Cranston.

Allied Group - a company that for over 30 years says it has provided the “creation, production and delivery of substantial and diverse product and service offerings” - said in the WARN letter that it is closing.


Latest in Rhode Island

It marks the third company to file a WARN letter regarding layoffs in the state in 2026, affecting nearly 250 workers.

As GoLocal reported in March, Northeast Transportation Services in Pawtucket notified the State of Rhode Island that it is laying off 52 workers.

 

In January, East Greenwich-based EaglePicher filed with the state, notifying it that the company was laying off 38 Rhode Island employees.
