The Rhode Island Black Chamber of Commerce announced last week that they would be changing its name to the “Rhode Island Black Business Association” (RIBBA) in celebration and acknowledgement of Black Rhode Islanders and the success and contributions their businesses have been making to the state. The new name is effective immediately.

This name change, which was approved by the group’s Executive Board of Directors, is a reflection of the constituency and positioning of this organization, which remains the same in all other core elements.

“The evolution of the black community of Rhode Island is driven by the challenges of its past, the opportunities of its present, and the promises of its future,” says Lisa Ranglin, current President of RIBBA.
