At 1:00 am on Thanksgiving night Target opened their doors to kick-off Black Friday retail sales. For the Target retail workers this required them to dramatically change their Thanksgiving holiday. In the case of the Target at The Crossing near Route 44 in Smithfield, the Dunkin' Donut workers got called into work to meet the demand of the middle-of-the-night retail promotion.

Since the origins of the United States, Thanksgiving has been celebrated as a shared holiday. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln standardized the date and since then it has been a sacred holiday until this year's retail Black Friday push.

Now your turn - should we allow this type of Thanksgiving night retail?
