Business Insider - one of the most influential business Web sites - published a piece about the first year success of GoLocalProv.com on Friday. The column outlined the growth and results of the site's first-year efforts. GoLocalProv's growth pattern makes it the fastest growing media in New England.

The online business site, Business Insider, is among the most respected in technology, media and coverage of Wall Street. In March, Time.com wrote, "If you are looking for all manner of business and economic news, as well as Wall Street gossip and what's hot on the web, Business Insider is the place to go."

"For GoLocalProv to get this type of attention about our business model and early success by Business Insider is tremendous for our entire team.  We have attracted many of the most talented journalists and thinkers and the results have been tremendous for growing our audience and the success of our advertisers," said Josh Fenton, Co-Founder of GoLocalProv.com.

"With talent like John Ghiorse, Scott Cordischi, Tracey Minkin, Stephen Beale and more than 40 other writers, videographers, experts and MINDSETTERS™, we believe that consumers really gravitate to high-quality, local journalism rather than canned or Associated Press stories," said Fenton.

Growth Media

The column titled, "Everyone's Searching For The Salvation Of Local News—And We Think We've Found It," outlines the growth of the Providence-based media platform in its first year. GoLocalProv has generated more than 8,000 articles and videos in its first year, and has grown to be one of the most visited news and information sites in the region. More than 130,000 unique visitors read GoLocalProv.com each month.  The site delivers more than 450,000 page views. Each day more than 25,000 receive the 6:00 am morning E-Blast.

GoLocal has broken some of the biggest stories in Rhode Island - Johnston pension abuse, Providence's financial meltdown, Central Falls Schools, and most recently the Chief Esserman incident. GoLocalProv covers arts, entertainment, beauty & fashion, food, lifestyle, sports, weather, business, and politics - everything Rhode Island.

"Rhode Island has a tremendous pool of talent, we hope we can continue to grow GoLocalProv and continue to have readers value us. We also hope to grow the model - it is a great opportunity to grow a strong Rhode Island business," said Fenton.

Business Insider generates one of the largest online business audiences - according to measures, the site is visited by 12.3 million unique visitors and generates page views of 89.3 million monthly.
