In 2002, Providence’s Renaissance was the toast of America. Waterplace Park, the development of Providence Place Mall, and WaterFire were all examples of how to recreate a city.
The Mall was the upscale retail center and arguably the best in New England. The anchors were Nordstrom’s, Lord & Taylor, and Filenes — all upscale retailers.
