He was the lead hair stylist on Sex and the City 2, he made Anne Hathaway fabulous on film, and now he's GoLocalProv's weekly style expert. Frank Barbosa, the Newport-based celebrity stylist, brings red carpet perspective to hair, makeup, and overall style.
This past weekend found us, the team of Frank Antonio Hair and Makeup, at the annual Newport Bridal Show. We enjoyed spotting amazing new hair and makeup trends... largely centering around classic fashion which reads timeless in photos and enhances an ethereal bridal look.
This season's biggest trend? Adding texture to your own natural look, as in this bride, right.
Other takeaways for women getting ready to stroll the aisle, whether in Newport or anywhere...
Make sure your hair complements your look. If your gown is slender and flowing, mirror that in your arrangment. If it's a big princess-style dress, make sure you put big shape in your hair to balance out the vision.
No heightened sense of drama this year... put away the spray and the tight buns. The Now Look for brides is relaxed and elegant.
Along the same lines, make sure your make-up in enhancing, not covering or changing, your look. Every guest should see that bride they know and love on the Big Day. And that's you!
From Sex and the City 2 to Rachel Getting Married, from The Sorcerer's Apprentice to Bride Wars, Frank Barbosa has styled some of the biggest celebrities in film, TV, and theater. He's currently styling on location alongside film stylist Alan D'Angerio on the film, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, starring Jennifer Garner. He's been in the industry for 17 years, moving from hip neighborhoods in Chicago, to Boston's Newbury St, to Bellevue Avenue in Newport. He maintains that his real passion, though, is being behind a salon chair.
