Fashion Show for Blackstone Valley Children’s Shelter
Tuesday, March 20, 2012
Let the spring fashion shows begin, and the first one up is for a very worthy cause. The Children’s Shelter of Blackstone Valley will hold its 5th Annual Fashion Show—Step Into Spring—on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the Providence Marriot in downtown Providence. The show, which starts at 7pm and includes dinner, highlights the latest casual and formal wear for men, women, and children from local retailers. Cocktails and a preview of the silent auction start at 6pm. Alison Bologna of WJAR-TV Channel 10 News, will emcee the show. Proceeds go directly to providing much-needed services for the Rhode Island children of abuse and neglect. East Commerce Solutions is the show’s major sponsor.
Looking to beat last year's record
“Our fashion show is such a great time that it’s become a “must attend” for many Rhode Islanders,” says Eileen Hernandez, Executive Director, Children’s Shelter of Blackstone Valley. “We drew more people last year then ever despite the economic downturn. We expect to do better this year. The combination of the latest fashion, a great location, the time of the year, and a truly worthy cause really appeals to Rhode Islanders.”
A new setting
CSBV will hold the show at the Providence Marriot for the first time. The last two years it was held at the Twin River Event Center, Lincoln. Many of the local retailers that provided fashions for last year’s show will do so again this year, including Sassy & Classy, East Greenwich, Our Place Tuxedo, North Providence. Teddy Bearskins, Barrington. Dressbarn, Seekonk, a returning exhibit, will also provide Spring and Summer fashions. Luke’s Disc Jockey Service, Pawtucket, will provide music for the show. Salon Deniz, Cumberland, will provide hairstyles and make-up.
