PawSox Send Ranaudo, Vasquez to All-Star Game

Pawtucket Red Sox starting pitcher Anthony Ranaudo and catcher Christian Vasquez have been named to the 2014 International League All-Star Team.
The 24-year-old Ranaudo has a 2.35 earned run average and owns a 9-4 record in 17 starts for the PawSox in 2014. He’s been the toughest pitcher to hit in the entire league thus far, allowing a .202 batting average to opponents. Ranaudo’s 81 strikeouts rank tied for 6th in the league, and he ranks tied for 2nd in wins and 5th in ERA among all IL starters.
The 23-year-old Vasquez is hitting .275 with 3 Home Runs and 19 RBI this season, but he’s known primarily as a defensive whiz behind the plate. Vasquez ranks 3rd in the International League with a 39% rate of throwing out attempted base stealers.

The 2014 Triple-A Game marks the 17th straight year that All-Star teams from the International League and the Pacific Coast League will face each other. The game will be played the night after the Major League All-Star Game and will be televised live on MLB Network and broadcast on the PawSox Radio Network (920 AM WHJJ the flagship).
