NEW: Mayor Taveras Raises $194k During 4th Quarter

For the first time since taking office last January, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras flexed his fundraising muscles in the final quarter of 2011, raising just over $194,000.
Taveras, who finished the third quarter with only $3,058.99 in cash on hand, now has $125,135.26 in his campaign account. Only Governor Chafee raised more during the quarter.
The Mayor spent $68,974.86 during the quarter, with $53,992.44 going to Campaign Finance Officers, one of the state's top fundraising companies. The company's founder, Brett Smiley, is also chairman of the Water Supply Board.

Taveras also spent $1,014.16 dining at Blaze East Side and another $1,000 at D'Vine on the Hill during the quarter.
