NEW: Local Mayors Lose Power During Storm

Mayors may be the most powerful people in their cities or towns, but that didn’t stop Tropical Storm Irene from knocking out power in their homes Sunday.
Four Mayors - Power Outage
Four local Mayor’s –Providence’s Angel Taveras, Warwick Scott Avedisian, Pawtucket’s Don Grebein and Cranston’s Allan Fung- all reported losing power over the weekend and by Monday morning, Taveras was the only one to have his power restored.

About 280,000 remained without electricity Monday morning, with National Grid spokesman David Graves saying it could be until next weekend before power is completely restored across the state.
Taveras Has Power
Avedisian, Grebien and Fung all reported still having no power, while Taveras spokesman David Ortiz confirmed the Providence Mayor’s home was “without power from about 8am to 11pm” Sunday evening.
