NEW: Doherty to Return $1,000 Contribution to Sen. Ciccone

Republican Senate candidate Brendan Doherty will return the $1,000 Senator Frank Ciccone contributed to his campaign, the Doherty campaign announced today.
The announcement comes two days after the campaign said it wouldn’t return the funds.
Ciccone has faced scrutiny in recent days after he made inappropriate comments to the Barrington police officer who arresting Senate Majority Leader Dominick Ruggerio on a DUI.

“I am confident that the Barrington Police acted with respect and courtesy in this situation, but it has become evident that Senator Ciccone showed very poor judgment and failed to treat the police officers in the same manner. With the benefit of additional information released today by the Barrington Police and upon careful reflection on the matter, I am extremely disappointed in the actions of Senator Ciccone and I have directed my Campaign to return his contributions," Doherty said.
