The first Make Music Rhode Island festival takes place on June 21 and community leader Sharon Steele says every kind of musician is welcome to take part in the state-wide event.

In correlation with the summer solstice, musicians from around the state will perform in eight cities and towns throughout the day as part of the Make Music Rhode Island.

Rhode Island is now the 39th state to join the international celebration. Steele explains the event is grassroots, volunteer, and participant driven.
