Former State Police Col. Doherty Praises Manni’s Selection

Doherty, who said he first met Manni when he was working for the United States Secret Service, spoke to his background and experience for the role, and what he sees as the biggest challenges facing the state police. Doherty also supervised Manni at the State Police.
Doherty also praised outgoing Superintendent Col. Ann Assumpico and her role in particular in working to recruit a diverse class of upcoming RISP candidates.
"Jim Manni is a great choice for Colonel of the State Police. He thinks things through thoroughly before acting and he’s a firm believer in tapping others for their experience in certain areas. The State Police is a great organization and takes pride in its esprit de corps. Jim exemplifies that common loyalty, enthusiasm and pride. I commend the Governor for her selection," said Doherty.
Doherty was not the only one who praised Doherty — Attorney General-Elect Peter Neronha told GoLocal, “I’ve known and worked with Jim Manni for many years. He is a person of great competence and integrity and I am looking forward to working with him. I also want to congratulate Colonel Assumpico on an exemplary and distinguished career in public service.”
