video: RI SHARK WEEK: GoLocalProv Swims with Sharks

Saturday, August 06, 2011

No one takes Shark Week more seriously than GoLocalProv, and to cap off our week devoted to the powerful, beautiful sea animals that roam our coasts, we sent reporter Nate Holterman out to swim with them. Literally.

Holterman joined Joe Romeiro, RI's shark advocate and filmmaker, in search of the inspirational creatures. Not only did the crew spot a mako and a hammerhead, but two blue sharks as well. Watch Holterman join Romeiro in the water and swim with a very curious blue shark - with no cage to protect him. Happy Shark week, everyone, from GoLocalProv.

Filming by Joe Romeiro; assistant cameraman, Bill Eastwick. Special thanks to Brian Raymond.

Obvious CGI is obvious.

Jack, if you're serious in your criticism, I can assure you that my reporter was on the boat on Wednesday. He was done on Wednesday night. The film was edited on Thursday. And we worked with it Thursday afternoon and I posted it to the site Thursday night. I don't think that allows time for CGI... or anything for that matter, other than some quick, excellent cutting.
