Crazy holiday fun invades PPAC this weekend when Elf, The Musical, takes to the stage.

Fall is in full swing here in Rhode Island and another eventful weekend approaches. Here are 5 ways to make the most of it!

Elf, The Broadway Musical

Sunday  This weekend Elf opens at the Providence Performing Arts Center. You know and love the 2003 movie starring Will Ferrell, now relive the magic live on stage. Matt Kopec will take the lead as Buddy, a young orphan who ventures off to New York City to find his birth father after being confronted with the fact that he is human, and not one of Santa's elves. Joining Kopec in the cast will be Julia Louise Hosack as Emily, Gordon Gray as Santa, Kate Hennies as Jovie, and Drew Pulver as Walter. The venue is also offering the chance to make the evening extra special for you and your child. Five walk-on role opportunities per performance will be offered to children between the ages of 5 and 12. Rhode Island Comic Con

Saturday, Sunday  Geeks, unite! The time is finally upon us for the biggest show in the smallest state. This famous convention will dedicate a whole weekend to comics, movies, television, video games, anime and manga, toys, and graphic novels. Many pop culture and sci-fi celebrity guests will be in attendance. You will no doubt see many of your favorite characters strolling around, as many people will be in costume. Highlights of the convention will include gaming tournaments, showings of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and Rocky Horror Picture Show, Cosplay Ask-A-Nation Panel, a costume contest, and a Jedi Training class. In what is sure to excite all the 90's kids in attendance, there will be a Power Rangers Panel featuring Jason David Frank, David Yost, and Walter Jones (the original Green/White, Blue, and Black Rangers, respectively). Clinton Kelly at Macy's

Saturday  The makeover master Clinton Kelly will give a very special fashion presentation at Macy's. Kelly co-hosts TLC's hit show What Not to Wear, in which he endeavors to turn the show's participants from "dowdy to dashing." Kelly will be in Providence showing all the Fall season essentials for women of all shapes and sizes. Unsure about what kind of clothing compliments your body type? The host and the experts at Macy's will be on hand to assist you in your quest for that perfect fit. Apply your new fashion tips and do some shopping, as with any $100 or more women's clothing purchase made on Saturday, you'll receive an autographed copy of Kelly's book, Oh No She Didn't! 2pm. Up Close on Hope

Friday, Saturday  Festival Ballet Providence will present Up Close on Hope, an award-winning contemporary dance series, on November 2 and 3. Now in its tenth season, the show will take place at FBP's Black Box Theater, which seats 80 people. Up Close on Hope prides itself on performances of "you-can-hear-them-breathe-intimacy" that small audiences can watch closely and comfortably. This popular display of performance art will feature the works of several new company members: Mark Harootian, George Birkadze, Egidijus Domeika, Gianni DiMarco, Marius Petipa, Vilia Putrius, Vincent Brewer, and Viktor Plotnikov. The choreographers' works will include 5 world premieres, 2 US premieres, and 1 Company premiere. An intermission will be held that will include wine from Rhode Island Distributing and light snacks from partnering local restaurants. 8pm Friday, 7:30pm Saturday. 825 Hope Street, Providence. 82nd Annual Armenian Food Fair and Bazaar

Friday, Saturday, Sunday  Experience a piece of Armenian culture at the 82nd Annual Food Fair and Bazaar this weekend. All are welcome to the event, which will serve Armenian food and delicacies such as Shish Kabob, pastries, Tourshi, Cheese Boereg, Losh Kabob, and Kufta. There will be live Armenian music, arts and crafts, jewelry, and a silent auction as well as games, raffles, movies, and balloons for kids. 5pm-10pm Friday, 11:30am-10pm Saturday, 12pm-7pm Sunday.
