Dropkick Murphys Play Boston This Weekend
“5 Live” goes a little green this weekend, with St. Patrick’s Day shows in RI as well as a couple of big concerts north of the border. We’re also including a Sunday gig at a famous local jazz spot, recently re-born in Providence. Check out our slide show for concerts spanning the PVD-WOR-BOS triangle in this week’s “5 Live Music Musts.”

Green Day Friday
Perhaps the biggest show in the region this weekend is in Worcester tonight as Green Day arrives at the Centrum. The influential punk rock band has been enjoying continuing success since breaking out of the Berkeley, CA scene in the late 80’s. Last year’s Revolution Radio, was well received by fans and critics and listed among the top albums on 2016. Although officially sold out, tickets are frequently released on the day of the show. Dropkick Murphys Saturday
For the authentic Celtic Rock experience, check out Dropkick Murphys this St. Patrick’s Day weekend. While the annual shows at the House of Blues may be sold out, there are still tickets available for tomorrow night’s show at the Agganis Arena in Boston. You’ll hear their favorites for sure, along with tunes from their latest release 11 Short Stories of Pain and Glory. It’s an early show - The Interrupters open at 4:30PM. Ticket information here.

The Kennedys Saturday
Husband wife duo Pete and Maura Kennedy are well regarded on the national folk-rock scene playing shows throughout the region. The Kennedy's are main stage regulars at festivals like Rhythm and Roots and the New Bedford Folk Festival for good reason – they perform a high energy show of covers and originals. Saturday night, they’ll be at the Stone Soup Coffeehouse at Slater Mill along with opener Robinson Treacher. Details here.

Pendgragon Saurday
Pendragon is Rhode Island's premiere Celtic band. They play tradtional Celtic as well as anyone around and know how to rock the house when it matters. You can see and hear them for yourself Saturday night at the Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland when the band gets together for their annual St. Patrick's Day show. Details here.

Jazz at Arias Sunday
The legendary Providence jazz club Allarys is back. The Arias Lounge on North Main St. recently introduced a series of jazz shows at former location of Allarys, a club which once hosted jazz greats from around the world. This Sunday, check out a CD release show for Road to Forever from sax player and Rhode Island native Greg Abate, playing with the Tim Ray Trio.
