Tonight, StyleWeek Providence partnered with the American Heart Association to present the “Go Red StyleWeek Challenge.” Each showing designer was paired with a survivor of heart disease or stroke to design the ultimate red dress that reflect the survivors’ personality while a panel of local VIP judges would crown the best look. Beyond the fashion element of this dynamic show, however, there was an emotional level not many in the standing room only audience expected, but clearly felt deep within their hearts.

Inspiration

Models included Linda Corte (wearing Daniela Corte), Brittney DeLange (wearing Kelly Eident), Michaela Gagne Hetzler (wearing Joe Segal), Katy Heneghan (wearing Maria Mercado), Tracey Kennedy (wearing Kara Wickman), Debra Koziol (wearing Sam Vartan), Lauren Mishkin (wearing Jennifer Greeke), Jeanette Nessett (wearing Jessica Abernethy), Susan Sanders (wearing Sarah Prost), Jodie Senouillet (wearing Andrea Valentini), Laurie Stephenson (wearing Jonathan Joseph Peters) and Pammi Suri (wearing Sam Mendoza), all of whom shared stories of their personal journey battling with heart disease and stroke.

The message from these women, these strong, fierce, determined survivors, was loud and clear: take care of yourself, never stop seeking answers, and have faith. Tears glittered amongst viewers like the Swarovski crystals donated to adorn the dresses as each model’s survival story was narrated while they beamed down the runway. Each beautiful face, each gorgeous dress, was accompanied by the strength and character of the models and the bond they had with their designers.
