James “Jim” M. McCarthy, of E. Providence, Dies at 59

James “Jim” M. McCarthy, of East Providence, died August 1st, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Linda M. (Robideau) McCarthy. They were happily married for 33 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Daniel J. McCarthy Sr. and Claire E. (Tisdale) McCarthy.
James was a 1981 graduate of Our Lady of Providence High School. He was a proud Free Mason of Adelphoi No.33. A man of many talents and job descriptions, he could do anything. Jim worked at Fram as a facilities and grounds manager, as an assistant superintendent for the City of East Providence, as well as in the Highway Department for the City of East Providence. He regularly volunteered his time at Lighthouse Shops food recovery. He was there for anyone who needed “Just a little help”. In his spare time, he was an avid weather watcher, getting his training through Skywarn. Jim enjoyed camping and anything to do with the outdoors, even traveling for 2 ½ months in a camper with his wife Linda, with no set destination. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a true gentleman.
In addition to his wife Linda. He leaves behind a daughter, Krystal L. McCarthy, and a son, James M. McCarthy Jr. His four siblings; Ellen McCarthy F.C.J., Daniel J. “D.J.” McCarthy, Jr., and his wife Elizabeth “Buffy” McCarthy, Susan McCarthy, and John McCarthy. His nieces and nephews, Meaghan, Daniel III, Matthew McCarthy, and Larissa Robideau.
Visiting hours are Friday evening, August 6th, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence.
At the family's request please wear a mask and practice social distancing, as well as other COVID precautions.
Jim’s funeral will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 9:00 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, 21 Traverse St, Providence, RI 02903.
The Interment will be private.
