John McNamara took the stunning photo on Thursday.

Parks and beaches might still be officially closed in Rhode Island -- but mother nature isn't quarantined.

John McNamara with Pier Picture Fine Art and Custom Framing was walking along Narragansett Town Beach on Thursday, when he came across what he said was a conger eel -- and snapped the stunning photo.

"[I was] walking the dog and found a seal, resting by the cabanas," McNamara told GoLocal. "I photographed it and as I was walking back to my store, Pier Picture, my dog found the eel in the surf.  I had to pull it away from her and couldn't resist shooting it too."

"Jokingly I told a friend that Gina Raimondo put it on the beach to keep us from running back to the beach," he quipped. "The truth is right after stormy weather lots of sea life washes up."

Raimondo this week said parks are slated to reopen before beaches -- read more here

"I wasn't too surprised to see it. They are not rare in the area, just not commonly seen, especially on beaches.  It is going a bit 'Jaws-esque' viral," said McNamara,

"I have photographed a sturgeon, at the same spot, which is very rare.  The seal, which is 'cute' is the really the larger concern, because of what preys on it!" he added.
