PC Holds Off Stony Brook 82-78 Behind Pipkins & Duke

Luwane Pipkins and David Duke each poured in 21 points as the Providence College Friars held off the Stony Brook Seawolves 82-78 on Saturday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Pipkins points came on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and 10-of-10 from the free-throw line.
The 21 points are his season-high.

With the win, the Friars improve to 6-5 on the season, while Stony Brook falls to 7-5.
PC Holds On in 2nd Half
After leading by ten at the half, 34-24, the Friars opened the second half by not scoring a point for nearly the first four minutes.
During that stretch, Stony Brook went on an 11-0 run to take a 35-34 lead on a three from Makale Foreman with 16:51 to play.
The Seawolves' lead would not last long.
Providence would respond with a 12-0 run capped off by a Diallo layup to take a 46-35 lead with 14:22 to play in the game.
After the Seawolves would get within six, 48-42, Providence would go on a quick 8-0 run to take a 56-42 lead on an A.J. Reeves three with 10:33 left.
However, PC was not able to put Stony Brook away.
The Seawolves would get back within four, 60-56, with 6:03 left before the Friars again, extended their lead on a Duke three with just over five minutes left to make the score 63-56.
Stony Brook would then get within three, 74-71, on a three by Mouhamadou Gueye with 41 seconds to play, before Providence would hit their free throws to seal the win.
Diallo finished the game with a double-double, 17 points, and 12 rebounds.
PC Gets Off to Fast Start
Providence got off to a fast start in the game, jumping out to a 17-9 lead on a Pipkins three with 13:44 left to play in the half.
The Seawolves would cut the Friars lead to 17-13 on a jumper by Elijah Olaniyi with 12:46 left in the frame, before the Friars would go on a run to take control.
Sparked by a Duke layup, Providence would go on a 7-0 run to take a 24-13 lead on a Duke three with 9:54 left to play in the frame.
Stony Brook would get as close as six, 24-17, on a jumper by Foreman with 7:34 left in the half.
A three by Alpha Diallo would push the Friars lead back up to ten, 27-17 with seven minutes left.
Providence would lead by as much as 12 points, 30-18, before taking a 34-24 lead into the break.
Next Up
Providence returns to action on Tuesday, December 17 when they take on the Univesity of Florida in Brooklyn.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN 2.
