Poor 2nd Half Leads to PC's 69-54 Loss to Butler

PC falls to Butler
The Providence College Friars scored only 19 points in the second half en route to a 69-54 loss to Butler on Saturday afternoon in Indiana.

The 54 points is PC’s lowest point total of the season and the 19 second-half points is also the Friars lowest of the season for points in a half.

With the loss, the Friars drop to 17-10 overall and 8-6 in the Big East, good enough for fourth place.

Butler improves to 18-10 overall and 8-7 in the Big East.

Poor 2nd Half Costs Friars 

The Friars led 35-33 at the half, but Butler opened the second half on a 10-2 run to take a 45-37 lead with 12 minutes to play.

Providence would get back to within seven, 49-42, with 10 minutes left following two free throws from Makai Ashton-Langford,

However, Butler would go on an 8-1 run to take a 57-43 lead with 7:17 to play.

Providence would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

The Friars were led by Alpha Diallo and Maliek White, who each contributed 11 points.

Overall, PC shot 30% from the field, making only 18 of 60 shots,  and 28% from three in the game. 

Next Up 

The Friars return to action on Wednesday, February 21 when they host Seton Hall. 

Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
