GAME ON: Boys State Basketball Tournament Preview

Eight teams are left in the running and look to push ahead to the Ryan Center this Saturday for the RI Boys Basketball Finals.

North Providence will take on top-seeded Cranston West tonight, while second-seeded Central and third-seeded Bishop Hendricken will square off against North Kingstown, and Tiverton respectively on Tuesday. Also competing are St. Raphael’s and West Warwick, who will be playing tonight at the Providence Career and Technical Academy.

Gunnar Bjornson, the leading scorer in the state, with a 23.7 average, helped Tiverton in their stunning upset win against LaSalle in the preliminary round. Combined for 45 points and 32 rebounds in their last game, Seniors Ben Bergandy along with Bjornson, took most of the offensive load. With Tiverton’s big upset over LaSalle, and Hendricken’s blow out win against Johnston in the preliminary rounds, this weeks match-ups are sure to impress.
