The Brown Bears fell 42-20 to the Columbia Lions on Saturday afternoon at Brown Stadium.

The Bears drop to 1-8 on the season and 0-6 in the Ivy League.

Columbia improves to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the Ivy League.

Brown Falls to Columbia

With the game tied at 14 in the second quarter, Brown’s Jakob Prall broke a 90-yard touchdown run to put the Bears up 20-14 after Dylan Brady’s extra point missed.

From there, it was all Columbia.

The Lions would take the lead on a Kyle Castner two-yard run to go up 21-20 after a Chris Alleyne extra point was good.

Later in the quarter, Columbia’s Ryan Young hauled in a 25-yard touchdown pass from Castner to give Columbia a 28-20 lead with 5:15 to go in the third quarter.

In the fourth, the Lions would strike again when Castner broke a 31-yard run to give Columbia a 35-20 lead following an Alleyne extra point.

Young would add another touchdown with five minutes left in the game to put the Lions up 42-20.

The Bears managed only 254 yards of total offense and ran only 49 plays.

By comparison, Columbia ran 94 plays and racked 515 yards of total offense.

Next Up

The Bears finish the season on Saturday, November 17 when they visit Dartmouth.

Game time is set for 1:30 p.m.
