The 4,000 families relying on RI Works receive an average of $6/person/day, trapping children in deep poverty that is harmful to their health and future success.
The Coalition is seeking to increase the benefit level from 30% of the federal poverty level to 50% over two years and provide for adjustment for inflation.
The event will feature Representative Michael Morin, Senator Melissa Murray, Economic Progress Institute’s Linda Katz, and RI Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s Tonya Harris.
