1.  What do you think is the biggest political issue this campaign season in Rhode Island?

I believe there are several. Census closed early with nearly 40% of our population still yet to be counted. This places an even higher strain on our ability to keep both of our US House seats. While also placing an even higher strain our ability to receive much needed federal funding. Division, I won’t elaborate here. Mail ballot applications. People have to request an application. Voters are unaware that they will not be sent mail ballots without an express application requesting to receive one. The closing of the polls, the SOS has not provided confirmation that some of our polling places may be closed.

2.  What do we need to do to improve Rhode Island's economy?

We should continue to create fair-wage jobs, even in the face of COVID19. Let’s place a higher emphasis on giving people the skills they need to access those jobs. I believe we should educate Rhode Islanders and help them understand the importance of entrepreneurial ventures, financial literacy, and real estate investment. By providing people with access to new skills, and industries; we will in turn, improve our state’s economy. State leaders should prioritize making training for jobs in prime markets more accessible, as we work to rebuild our economy. We will not be able to maintain our democracy without educating our population.

3.  What is the greatest challenge facing Rhode Island as a state?

There are several intersecting issues that have come to light in the wake of COVID19. From healthcare disparities to police brutality, to the quality of our young people’s education. Disparities in opportunities for people of color and immigrants, while our state’s economy and budget, are all placed with high importance. What has become most clear is, working families need new representation at the Rhode Island statehouse that understands how each of these singular issues, compounds the next. New voices that will work tirelessly to create, and update laws that will help our families grow, and prosper.

4.  Why are you running for office? What makes you uniquely qualified?

I am running for office to create changes that will benefit the people in our state. My roots are here in Providence, I was born and raised here. I have attended Providence Public Schools and have many shared and lived experiences with the community in which I serve. I was a product of societal influences, however I made the conscious choice to educate myself and do the best I could to overcome adversity. In 2014, I graduated from Johnson and Wales University with a BS in Financial Services, as a first generation college student. Since then I have completed my MBA in Finance. Upon completion of my MBA, I did not run out and apply for a role in one of our many large corporations. I created a business plan for a nonprofit organization which we now know today as Impact RI.

My goal is to bring the collective experiences of myself, and my neighbors in District 13, to the RI statehouse. Change is long overdue. In office, I will stand and demand that change. I will continue to listen to my constituency and help to make the voices of Rhode Islanders heard in our House of Representatives.

5.  Who is your inspiration?

I am inspired by the stories of the people in my community, and from within my spirit. Each person has a unique set of circumstances, experiences, and policies that directly affect them. I personally, am a very analytical, and strategic thinker. Once a problem has been identified, my mind springs into action towards identifying solutions. This generally happens during my daily reflection time, when I become inundated with ideas on what changes can be made, in order to make things better. I also spend time taking other people’s views and ideas into consideration.
