US Marine Corps Veteran, James T. LeBlanc, Dies at 83

James T. LeBlanc, 83, of Wood River Junction, died January 6, 2022 at South County Hospital. He was the loving husband of Eileen LeBlanc. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph A. LeBlanc and Alice M. (Cooney) LeBlanc.

Mr. LeBlanc proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962.  He served directly under Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy at the 8th & I Barracks in Washington, D.C., the oldest active post in the Marine Corps. He was employed as a shipping supervisor with AMTROL for many years and also worked for U.S. Rubber.  

Active in his community, Mr. LeBlanc was a 34-year member of the Coventry-West Greenwich Lions Club, a 35-year member of Ionic Lodge & 28 F. & A.M., a 32nd Degree Master Mason with Rhode Island Scottish Rite Valley of Providence, and member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Adah Chapter. He was very active with his sons as an assistant scoutmaster with Troop 35 West Greenwich, was a scout leader in the Coventry, USA/UK exchange programs, and was also an assistant baseball coach.  Although a Burrillville Bronco fan forever, he was a fan of the Warwick Schools during his son's long tenure as basketball coach.  Lastly a music lover of the NKHS/EWG symphonic and jazz bands.

He is a Communicant of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Wickford, and formerly at St. Matthias Church in Coventry.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving sons: Thomas J. LeBlanc and his partner Lee Ann of Wood River Junction, Stephen M. LeBlanc and his wife Heidi of Tampa, FL, and Christopher C. LeBlanc and his wife Shelly of Exeter.   Cherished grandfather of Stephanie, Danielle, Shawn, Jacob, Charles, Carson, Fionna, Avery, Theodore, and great-grandfather of Carolynn, Kaleb, and Evangeline.   He was the brother of Alice Courtemanche and her husband Ovide of Harrisville.   

His Requiem Eucharist will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 11:00 am in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 55 Main Street, Wickford.  

Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. 

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in The Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. 

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 55 Main Street, Wickford, RI 02852 will be appreciated.
