Ruth Marie (Frates) Roy, of West Warwick, Passes at 82

Ruth Marie (Frates) Roy, 82, of Vincenzo Drive, West Warwick, passed at the Riverview Healthcare Community, with her loving family by her side on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

She was the wife of the late Donald R. Roy. Born in West Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary Rose (Roberts) Frates.

Ruth graduated from West Warwick High School Class of 1957. She was employed at the former Choquette & Company Distributors before working in Telecommunications at Kent Hospital from 1995 until her retirement in 2015. Ruth enjoyed gardening, dancing, and listening to music; especially Engelbert Humperdinck recordings. However, Ruth’s greatest joy was caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was the mother of Anne Marie Harrold and her husband Peter, David C. Fera and his wife Brenda, all of West Warwick, and the late Douglas P. Fera. Ruth was the grandmother of Christina Fera, Melissa DaSilva, Kimberly Leduc (Daniel), and Matthew Santille (Rebecca); and the great-grandmother of Olivia Rose, Jameson, Nicholas, Savannah Rose, and Matthew Jr. Ruth was the sister of Theresa Butler, Shirley Laiter, and Claudette Blais.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth on Monday morning, August 9, 2021, at 11 am in Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Rd., Warwick.

Interment at Notre Dame Cemetery in West Warwick will be private.

Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.

Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
