Ronald F. Travers, 75, of Woonsocket, formerly of Cranston and Warwick, passed away on September 26, 2021, at Oakland Grove Health Care Center after a decade-long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was the former husband of Camille Travers of North Providence.

Ron grew up on Armstrong Avenue in the Fox Point section of Providence. He was the son of the late Alfred Travers Jr., State Representative of the 2nd District (1961-1977), and Jury Commissioner of Superior Court, Providence (1977-1991), and the late Concetta (Roberto) Travers.

Ron held many positions over the course of his lifetime. He was a draftsman for the Town of Narragansett, an inspector for the RI State Fire Marshal's Office, and Director of Zoning and Code Enforcement for the City of Pawtucket, the latter being his most cherished appointment until illness forced him to retire in 2012. Ron welcomed the challenges of the Zoning Department and he continuously spoke about his great love and respect for the duties of the position and for his coworkers. He had many special friends including, but not limited to Ana S., Barry D., Bill V., Diane A., Donna P., Mary G., and Mary M. The heartache that Ron experienced from having to retire before he was ready created a sadness that never left him. A piece of his heart forever resides at Pawtucket City Hall.

Ron was an avid reader and enjoyed India Point Park, antiques, auctioneering, and Dunkin Donuts. He volunteered his time campaigning for several Rhode Island politicians over the years, including Richard Licht and Myrth York.

Ron is survived by his three children: Damon Travers (Lisa) of Cranston, Nicia Ventetuolo (Jared) of Johnston, and Taylor Travers of East Greenwich. He was the grandfather of Devin, Marc Anthony and Talia Travers, and Jacob Ventetuolo.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Felicia Meila, MD, and Sandy of University Internal Medicine for many years of exceptional care and kindness, Oakland Grove Health Care Center, especially the 2nd and 4th-floor nursing staff and Beacon Hospice, particularly Daisy, Erin, and Ross.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, September 30th in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, at 10 am.

Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Costigan-O’Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage St. Pawtucket.
