Robert L. Balthazard, Navy Veteran Dies at 84

Robert L. Balthazard, USN (Ret.), 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 19, 2022. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Bertrand and Yvonne (Varieur) Balthazard.

Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Quartermaster after twenty years of service. He was the former president of the AMVETS, Post 33, and a member of Walter G. Gatchell VFW, Post 306, both of Pawtucket. A lifelong resident of the city, Robert enjoyed watching television, playing cribbage and took pride in his meticulously manicured lawn.

He is survived by a sister, Yvonne Balthazard and her companion, George, of Pawtucket; two nieces, Susan Shaker and her husband, John, of Ohio and Sandra Jameson and her husband, Kevin, of Pawtucket; a nephew, Steven Balthazard and his companion, Cindy, of Seekonk, MA, and many dear friends. He was the brother of the late Roger A. Balthazard and uncle of the late Lynda Lacasse (Dennis).

His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the family lot at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated.
