Opera Singer & Music Teacher for Warwick Schools, Dorothy Rose Winn, Dies at 91

Dorothy “Dottie” Rose Winn, age 91, of Warwick passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at Sunny View Nursing Home in Warwick.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Maxwell and Pearl (Levine) Winn, she had lived in the city for many years before moving to Warwick in 1987.
After studying at the New England Conservatory of Music, Dottie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Rhode Island, a Master’s Degree in Music and Voice from Boston University, and a Master’s Degree in Education and Reading from Rhode Island College. Ms. Winn was a music teacher in Warwick Public Schools for 34 years, retiring in 1999 and had a private studio in Downtown Providence where she taught voice, piano, and dramatics. Dottie was also a very talented opera singer for many years. She was a member of Temple Emanu El in Providence for many years.
She is survived by her son Jason Winn of Hallandale, Florida, as well as many cousins and very close friends.
Burial will be private.
