Jesse P. Arruda of Greenville, RI, passed away in the presence of his loving family at the age of 80 on December 1, 2018.

A gentle, kind person, Jesse was a self-made man and a long-time resident of New England. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the United State Marine Corps where he learned and competed in the martial art of judo.

Although he spent much of his early career moving from one place to another as a salesman for Armor, wherever he lived it was home with his children, Christine, Donna, Paul and Nadine, whom he shared with his former spouse, Dolores.

In retirement, he remained happily settled in Rhode Island with his second wife, Claire, for more than 30 years.

Through the years his passions included puzzles, plants, animals and all things involving his children and grandchildren.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Claire, his children and their spouses: Christine Arruda and Ron Fricker of Newport, VA; Donna Arruda of Richmond, VA; Paul and Mary-Ellen Arruda of Jaffrey, NH; Nadine and David Pope of Greenville, RI; his grandchildren: Tara, Alicia, Joshua, Zachery and Noah; his sister Agnes Souza of Taunton, MA. Jesse is predeceased by his sister Mary Santos and his beloved dog Princess.

Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Jesse’s funeral service will be held at 6:30 immediately following the visitation. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations, in his memory, may be made to Hope Alzheimers’ Center, 25 Brayton Ave, Cranston, RI 02920
