Navy Veteran, Henri Charles Benoit, Passes at 94

Henri C. Benoit, 94, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021, in the Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence.

He was the husband of the late Constance (Montming) Benoit. He was the longtime companion of the late Loretta Mercier.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Jean M. and Bernadette (Duval) Benoit. Henri resided in Manville for many years, previously residing in Pawtucket for most of his life.

He was a World War II, US Navy Veteran. Henri was a member of the VFW Post 1271, Central Falls. He was also a communicant of St. James Church, Manville.

He was a salesman for Castello Liquor Distributors for 12 years and also Charles Fradin Distributors for more than 18 years, until his retirement.

Henri enjoyed bowling, playing cards, but most of all enjoyed games of chance. He was a passionate and dedicated New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his several nieces and nephews. Henri was the brother of the late Bernard Benoit, Roland Benoit, Cora Standring, Jeanne Benoit, and Yvette Wilson.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Henri's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 9 to 10:30 am in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland, RI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am in St. James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville.

Burial with military honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity or church of your choice.
