Michael L. Burns, of North Providence, Passes at 71

Michael L. Burns, 71, of North Providence, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital.

Born in Cambridge, MA., he was the son of the late Albert and Jane (Young) Burns.  He was the beloved husband of Karen (Metfooney) Burns.

In his younger years, Michael was a dedicated musician, playing bass guitar, and enjoyed the great outdoors, especially fishing. Later in life, he passed the time by bird-watching, going for leisurely walks through nature, and studying his Bible. He spent decades building a career working in Rhode Island’s jewelry industry. He was a well-known jokester, with a wonderful sense of humor, and went out of his way to make every person he came across smile each day.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Zachariah Burns, Kristin Burns, Michael Burns, and Sean Burns. He was the brother of Paul Burns, Robert Burns, and Katy Belmont, as well as the late James Burns and late Barbara Burns. He is also survived by his three grandchildren Brandon, Johanna, and Alexa.

Visiting hours will be Friday, October 22nd from 9 am-12 pm at the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, RI 02904.

Burial will be private.
