MDA Good-Will Ambassador, Zachary Quinn Dies at 23
A 2016 graduate of Cranston West High School and the Cranston Career and Technical School, he leaves behind his loving parents Michael and Lee-Ann (Hevey) Quinn, his sisters Allison, Samantha, and Alivia Quinn, all of Warwick. His devoted grandparents Michael Quinn, of Cranston and James and Lorraine (Lavergne) Eaton of Warwick, his Uncle and Aunt Jason Quinn and Lauren Atamian, and their two sons Camden and Colton of Cranston. His grandparents Linda (Burgess) Quinn and George Hevey passed before him.
Zachary lit up the room wherever he went. He had a calming presence, a heartwarming smile, and an infectious laugh. Everyone wanted to be around Zach. He loved to laugh, tease, tell a joke or just be silly. If you were lucky enough to know him, you made a forever friend. Zachary always put everyone else before himself. He was empathetic, compassionate, and loving. He never let his disability get him down. His maturity exceeded his years.

He spoke at various functions about living with Muscular Dystrophy. He later went on to become a home care advocate speaking before the House Finance Committee for the State of RI to advocate for increased wages for home care staff. His most recent passion had been advocating for wage parity and the importance of skilled nursing care being available and incomparable amounts for those children aging out of pediatrics and into adulthood when they turned 21. To accomplish this, he hosted legislators, participated in round table discussion and spoke with various news outlets.
Zachary had a unique ability to make a special connection to all those he met. His caregivers were no exception. The bonds he formed with the people who cared for him were unbreakable. They immediately became part of his family and trusted circle. He loved all things Marvel, Disney, and Star Wars just to name a few. He shared his love of games with others and could often be found at the neighborhood game store Game On. He enjoyed roaming the neighborhood in his wheelchair and stopping at his favorite stores and restaurants where he became a favorite regular.
Zachary’s proudest accomplishment by far was being a big brother to his sisters. He could often be found with his youngest sister Alivia playing games, helping with homework, or just cuddling. He enjoyed spending time with his twin sisters Allison and Samantha whether it was giving advice, playing games, watching TV, or just teasing and chatting. Zachary treasured his sisters. His family and friends meant the world to Zach, his life will always be remembered as brave, heroic, and full of love and passion.
Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 4-7 pm in the Charles Coelho Funeral Home.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
A Celebration of Zachary’s life will take place on Thursday, December 30th at 11 am in the funeral home.
