Mary Mattos, of Cumberland, Dies at 93

Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Jesuina (Gouveia) Freitas. Mary resided in Cumberland for over 50 years, previously residing in Central Falls.
She was employed by the former Sears Robuck Co., Providence for many years in their marking department.

Mary had several passions in life. She passed her love of baking and crafting on to her daughter. She loved knitting and crocheting and passed this craft on to her nieces. Her greatest passion of all was her grandchildren. Even to the end, her eyes would light up when seeing them. She was delighted to have met her new great-grandson.
She is survived by her son, David Mattos and his wife Diane of Cumberland; her daughter, Keri Yuppa and her husband Thomas Yuppa of Cumberland; three grandchildren, Jenna Messser and her husband, Steven Messer, Caroline Mattos and her fiancé Andrew Clark, David Mattos Jr. and one great-grandchild, Oliver Messer and her sister Celeste Blanco. She was the sister of the late Lucy Howe and Manual Freitas.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
